The sweaty palms of a nervous mind
Do reach for relief often
Talent
That precious commodity
Bought and sold at the price of time and effort
Or rarer still that which is granted
By some unknown power
Is not this mind's friend
The many amorous muses
Of skill and technique
Do glare upon that mind
At the sides of those far greater
Do they stand
Like trophies they do pose themselves
Goddesses imposing the eminence
Of those whom they have chosen
And yet
In lieu of their beauty
And their disdain
That mind now stands
It moves its shaking legs
Stills it's frantic heart
And clenches it's sweaty hands
Alone
Without a muse
Indifferent to those vane Goddesses
That mind presents
And for a moment
When at the corner of everyone’s eye
When opportunity to impress is granted to even the lowest
For that one moment
All are equals
Even that nervous mind
But when the show is over
Will the moment last?
People are actually beginning to watch me here and there... Some of them are really talented. It's got me a little scared... :worry:

Sweet! I love the concept. I like your word substitutions, and the flow of it is very nice. The visual images/concepts are clear and striking, and really, that's all that counts in any kind of descriptive writing :D
